COVID-19: A crisis for humanity

No doubt, Covid-19 is reshaping our world and just about every aspect of our lives and the way we interact with each other. Presently, protocols of engagements from work to normal socializing have been redefined. Clearly, an unprecedented crisis that was thrust upon and caught the world off-guard and totally unprepared, despite the warnings.

Ironically, we have the capability and incredulous firepower to obliterate our enemies, explore Mars 300 million km away, pollute our fragile planet but have not invested in defending ourselves against microscopic contagion(s) that are lurking in the shadow s… ready to strike and penetrate our vulnerable human frailties.

The current Covid pandemic demonstrates how fragmented and tribal-centric we still are as homo-sapiens. At a time when humanity is faced with an existential threat, we see how geopolitical and economic self-interest takes precedence in our priorities.

Instead of mobilizing the collective technological and human resources of the world to collaborate and work as a cohesive team to defend humanity best interest against this pestilence, we see that it had become a race to demonstrate who will be the winner to make a vaccine that will curb and control the virus for monetary self-interest.

Clearly, it was logical to discern that the most powerful countries with the scientific and financial resources were the only ones who could participate in this race and even had a chance in developing and producing an effective antidote.

COVID-19 Vaccines are being monetized

To date, these advanced countries have indeed made progress by developing a number of vaccines that have been rather effective in defending against Covid-19. However, we now see that the vaccines are being monetized and that only the rich countries with strong financial resources and the purchasing power are being given timely supply priorities, leaving the have-not countries mercilessly exposed to the wrath of Covid-19 unstoppable virulent variants.

Indeed! the question now begs as to why the formulas of the vaccines with the potential to curb this plague were not shared and be mass-produced under the auspices of the WHO as a high-priority and necessary prerequisite humanitarian intervention for ALL the nations and people of the world?

India, graciously, wanted to demonstrate benevolent leadership and to be a saviour for the underprivileged nations but left itself open by underestimating the virulent and deadly nature of Covid 19.

Now, India is on its knees with a catastrophic outbreak that is wreaking havoc with horrific sufferings and death on an unprecedented mass scale. As such, India is presently desperately in need of rescue by neglecting its own safety needs and enforcing protocols that could have prevented such a devastating catastrophe.

Further, China’s quest for world domination by controlling the world’s supply chain is another detrimental factor that is of concern for the struggling nations of the world. China was able to arrest and combat Covid 19 by enforcing the authoritarian fist of the CCP, its advanced technological capabilities, and vast policing power with strict protocols and lockdowns.

Not surprisingly, China is now leading the charge for global control as the primary

manufacturing hub for a desperate world in chaos.
