It is not good internationally when the Head of Government of Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) Keith Rowley shows no respect for the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
We cannot hide this expression of disrespect under the carpet.
However, the Indian High Commissioner in T&T, Shri Arun Kumar Sahu ji, showed statesmanship. As nationals and descendants of India and people in the Indian diaspora,
we must be proud of His Excellency.
Dr Keith Rowley, as Prime Minister of T&T, must be mindful of his irresponsible statements against Modi, Sahu and India.
We are not at all pleased by his insult to India and our ancestral motherland.
It is also you an insult to us in the Indian diaspora and this will not ever be tolerated.
Dr Keith Rowley failed to realise that this country is a culturally-diverse nation with deep historical and cultural ties with India.
India is a powerful country and a world democracy.
As a sitting prime minister, Dr Rowley has proven himself to be incompetent and lacking in diplomacy.
This is not a good thing for this country. This insult has never been seen in the history of politics and international relations in T&T.
Dr. Keith Rowley has not displayed good leadership. Instead, he has shown that he is arrogant.
He has no respect for the equality of citizens in T&T, for every creed and race.
He continues to rule by dividing this nation according to racial lines. He is using race as a political weapon to stay in power at the cost of love and harmony in our diverse society.
Keith Rowley has also show disrespect to leaders of the Commonwealth and the Caribbean by calling them beggars for COVID vaccines from India
